Tottenham Must Toughen Up

Tottenham Hotspur drew 3-3 with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday. What a great result for Wolves, who currently languish in second to last place in the English Premier League. Great for the boys from the West Midlands, but absolute disaster for North London. If Spurs are EVER going to seriously push for another title, they have got to toughen up mentally and in squad depth. Many pundits have said that Tottenham are just not good enough to rise above 5th place, not good enough for the Champions League, and not good enough for their incredibly patient fans; like me.

To draw with Wolves, even without star player Gareth Bale who played from the bench, is just not nearly enough of a statement. The kind of statement that says "We are going to have a run at the title so you'd better get the hell out of the way." Harry Rednapp is one of the best coaches in the world and he has made miracles in White Hart Lane, but the players have to believe and play like winners at all times. Sure, there are no easy games in this league, but to let in three goals against a struggling club is laughable.

Time to stand up tall and be counted lads, or risk losing all the fans you have left, who are sick of watching you living well below the required standard. Time to get rid of the stutter. Time to keep your best players, such as Bale, and not sell them to United as you did with Dimitar Berbatov. Time to get back to former glory and win new battles and show the world you are still a great club. Or it will be time for me to look for someone else to support. Another club with a tradition of winning, of fighting to the bitter end; one with an attitude of invincibility. Just do it!
